Bio: A grouchy sassy shitpost who manages to achieve a 60% Sync rate with her Key on her first attempt and pretty much immediately falls hard and fast for the girl inside. She's kind of a grumpy butthead but she means well and deeply respects her Key. Won't stand for anyone implying Keys are to be valued any less than real people are. When injustice happens she can't stop herself from firing up and going all shonen hero about it, which can get her into trouble if she's not careful.
Key: A zweihander, called uh Zwei. LEAVING THE DETAILS UP TO BLOSS SINCE SHE PROMISED TO PLAY SWORD LESBIANS WITH ME
Powers and shit: High sensitivity to Sync levels between Synchronics and Keys. She's able to hear and sometimes communicate Keys she isn't bonded with and when fighting with Zwei, they can disrupt the Sync between other Synchronics and their weapons for short bursts.

Bio:
Zuri is the daughter of Fana Azmera, one of the members of Estrella Academy's board of directors. Now a third-year, she keeps her juniors in line with an iron fist of merciless justice. When the more overt heroic types start pushing into Estrella's more sinister elements, Zuri is who pushes back, acting as a foil for them. The reason for this come down to her mother - Fana spent years systematically erasing every bond Zuri ever had with the wider world, until she was the only person left who her daughter could rely on. Zuri is left desperate for her mother's recogniztion, a fact that she exploited to turn her into an unquestioning puppet of Estrella's authority.
Key:
A bladed whip called Cassandra, not that she knows that. Cassandra was originally another student who was in a relationship with Zuri, but when she got too close to the truth of Estrella Academy, she was discreetly selected by Director Azmera to be converted into a Key. Too powerful to readily discard but too volatile to allow to communicate with any Synchronics, Cassandra was outfitted with a Sync Inhibitor that prevents her from ever reaching above 25% Sync, and then paired with someone who the Board of Directors could easily control - Zuri.
Powers and shit:
Fuck your powers. Zuri doesn't rely on Sync or any of the special properties it bestows. She ignores her weapon (she can't sink over 25% with it anyway), using it as a simple weapon, and overcomes her opponents using long-refined skill and natural talent. A Key is a tool, nothing more. The abilities gained via bonds are meaningless before true strength.

Bio: Youngest daughter of an old family well-known for producing high-quality synchronics, and Hilda is no different. Despite only being a 1st year, she's one of Estrella Academy's top students due to her brute strength and sync with her Key. Mysteriously, her sister went missing a few years prior after winning the Seven Sisters championship. Thanks to her pedigree and position as one of the top students, her ego is as massive as the Key she wields with a temper as short as she is. Utterly destructive when fighting and zero care for property damage.
Key: A massive labrys she calls Viktoria after her older sister... who is actually her Key. I'LL LEAVE OTHER DEETS FOR CLAIRE.
Powers and shit: She's Hella Strong and with durability to match. Little actual skill when it comes to fighting or strategy, leaving that for Viktoria (when she actually listens...). It's something she can turn off and on at will, and her eyes turn golden when activated.

Appearance/Image References: 5'8", average build for a medium-frame girl in battle school. Kivi has chin-length brown hair with some wave to it, usually in various states of bird's nest because she always just rolls out of bed before class, olive skin, freckles, grey eyes. She wears round glasses and whenever she can get away with it, she's wearing baggy cargo pants or overalls; when she can't get away with it, she's wearing a boy's uniform, because life is too short to wear clothes with shallow pockets. Tends to look like she's not paying attention. Spoilers: She's always paying attention.
Bio: A senior at Estrella on academic scholarship, as she comes from a no-name family without many resources. Kivi doesn't stand out on the battlefield, but she's known for having good grades (that might be better if she studied harder) and a strange, off-putting personality. She keeps to herself but is sharply observant. Loves cartoons, weird books, history, and avoiding competition wherever possible.
I'm thinking she might be from out in "the country," so to speak--an area with desert climate if I can swing it. Maybe somewhere the climate/geography changed radically due to whatever event gave rise to the Synchronics? So she's not a member of some great Synchronic family, but she knows a lot of lore about Synchronic power and the land.
Key: Zacchaeus, a halberd. He and Kivi have about a 40% sync at best, but he, like her, tends to keep his thoughts to himself, anyway. Kind, quiet, and always background worried--can't shake the feeling something bad happened to him once, but can't imagine what. Secretly a shitlord memer.
Powers and shit: Despite her own middling sync rate with Zacch, Kivi has the ability to see where and how to greatly boost or even permanently improve sync rates between other Synchronics and their Keys. While she usually suggests hands-off fixes like changing a Synchronic's training style, painless alterations to the Key, or ways to improve communication and deepen bonds, Kivi can also "tune" a pair with her touch. Results depend on how well she and Zacch know the pair and how deeply she feels for them.

Appearance/Image References: Around 5'9''. Dark-skinned, wiry build, with long dark hair (probably purple since this is an anime) that is most often braided and then done up in a bun for practicality purposes. When unbound it reaches down to the small of his back. He also has magnificent resting bitchface, and his school uniform is always impeccable. When not in uniform he tends toward button-down shirts and dark slacks or jeans. Very clean-cut and never a hair out of place; this is a guy who cares about the image he presents to the world.
Bio: Jasvinder is the latest in a long line of synchronics, and his family holds a good deal of sway with Estrella thanks to a seat on the school board, a long history of alumni and generous monetary donations. The Kapali legacy is best summed up with 'always the bridesmaid, never the bride'; a Kapali has never won the Seven Sisters Tournament, and so the pressure on each new generation to perform has grown exponentially over the years. Jasvinder excelled in school and was able to enter the Tournament proper, but came in second place by a narrow defeat. This excellent performance meant he was among that years' students slated for conversion, but hey, it turns out when the horrible thing happening to other peoples' children is about to happen to your child you get cold feet. A deal was struck: Jasvinder would be spared conversion, but his Key would be broken as a precautionary measure to hobble him and prevent him from ever growing dangerous. It was engineered to look like an accident, and he was given a highly-altered reforged Key that he could no longer seamlessly work with. He is now back in school in an attempt to salvage his future as a synchronic and re-learn how to fight with a Key that feels Wrong (and so that an eye can be kept on him).
He's a boy whose entire self-worth centers around how well he performs, and so losing the Tournament after coming closer than any other Kapali ever had and then breaking his key and no longer being able to fight skillfully has not been good for him. Outwardly he tends to come across as snippy, dismissive and hyperfocused on training; inwardly he is a ball of anxiety and bitterness and frustration. Any attempt to talk about why the hell he's still in school when he should be graduated is a fast pass to getting him mad at you, because he takes it as a personal attack and an implication that he doesn't deserve to be a student at Estrella anymore.
Basically he's the sort-of minor antagonist that spills his horrible backstory to the protagonists and gets won over by the power of friendship halfway through the season.
Key: Originally his Key was a sword -- no anime teen inside, either, just purely synthetic. They had a fairly-high sync, around 75% at peak. After it was broken his Key was reforged into a katar that used half of its original blade and also introduced a human mind as kind of a 'consolation prize' (and also just to see if such a thing could be done). Predictably it went fucky and now his Key has two fractured consciousnesses within it: the original synthetic mind and the mind of a teenage boy. Their sync has never once reached the level he had with his original Key, and often fluctuates and breaks without warning. While he can hear them speak it is indistinct at best and garbled and alarming at worst, and it is very rare that he can make out any actual words. In essence his Key is out of sync with itself and that makes it very difficult for him to sync with it; the best he's ever achieved was around 30%.
Powers and shit: Jasvinder's power is practical in nature: he can teleport very short distances, and the better his sync the more precise his aim and greater his range (with an upward limit of his own wingspan). Just a small shift can make all the difference in battle. Now that his sync is always fluctuating and his Key is often difficult to wield, he has trouble making this ability work at all and when he does manage it he often misfires. This has made re-learning combat even more frustrating for him and has resulted in him taking a lot of hits he would otherwise have been able to easily avoid. Rip in rip.

Bio: Restille is mostly beneath the notice of most anybody. She's only mediocre in fighting, she's not a tactical genius, she's not from any important background. In short, she is average. And, if not for the fact that her Key gave her the ability to survive death, she'd probably never be noticed. But that's... not quite the truth. Her Key didn't give her the ability to survive after dying. Restille has actually been dead for the two years since she attained her Key. The Key is manipulating her body, living through her corpse. Restille is gone, and her Key Allione (formerly Farron Al-Beyer) is the one piloting.
Key: Allione, a jitte. Allione used to be Farron Al-Beyer, winner of the Seven Sisters Tournament three years prior. When she was converted into a Key, they failed to erase every memory, and Farron has spent the last three years grasping at what memories she still had and piecing together her old life through investigating the gaps in those memories. She's also working toward an end goal of ending the Key system and possibly toppling Estrella Academy.
Powers and shit: The ability of the Key is necromancy - simply put, controlling dead bodies. She plays it off as if the ability is "Guaranteed Survival", keeping Restille alive no matter the state of her body, but that is a lie. Besides necromancy, Farron was an incredibly skilled fighter who previously won the Seven Sisters Tournament.

Appearance/Image References: concepts?!?! still fine-tuning the details, but: keeps her hair up, has a beauty mark, thick thighs save lives, titties. wears Farron's red ribbon basically all the time. she's tall. i haven't decided how tall yet but she's tall enough with her heels to give most of the cast boob hugs
Bio: Jess was friends with Farron when they were still in school and when she won the seven sisters tournament and "graduated early," which we all here understand to mean "was turned into a sword," Jess started snooping around because the circumstances around the incident were so suspicious. someone caught her getting into things she shouldn't and because of $REASON, she's been prevented from doing anything further or sharing what little she knows. probably related to that whole nonsense is $INCIDENT, during which Jessica almost died but reached 100% sync with her key. her key has recovered some vague memories of his life as a human, only further bolstering Jess's certainty that something is wrong. her near-death incident kept her out of school for a bit, so she's finishing her final year a little late; she's an upperclassman to most of the rest of the cast but still a little older than mmmmmoooost of the student population.
jess is super sweet for the most part; she's friendly and encouraging and a little overbearing about it, but she wants the best for her legion of forcibly-adopted little siblings and will do everything in her power to get them there!! she loves you guys. truly she does. she's also super determined to help them be strong and capable; she wants to win the seven sisters tournament as a means to learning more about how shady the academy is and what happened to her friend and her key, but she knows she won't be the only winner, and wants the people she cares about to be able to defend themselves in the event of the worst
she sort of lets her hair down around people she considers her equals, like her key, and she's more likely to be sassy and snappy and sometimes out and out rude with them. she's sort of easily irritable over strange things in a way she's quicker to brush off with those younger than her, but she's more likely to let things escalate with those she hasn't decided are her wards. her rudeness is definitely an expression of comfort and trust, though; she's very civilly cool and insistently calm to people she doesn't like instead of just kind of mean.
Key: GUN
BIG IMPROBABLE ANIME GUN, probably a dude, probably very gay, has some amount of human memories, he and jess have a consistently high sync score and work very well together even though they spend any given fight together snarking at each other the entire time? it doesn't stop them from doing very well at all, they're just always aggressively bantering
Powers and shit: defensive barriers! since she's already a ranged fighter, she generally doesn't have much use for them, so she keeps her powers on the down-low and doesn't use them unless she has to—she's honestly way more likely to just fucking hit you with her gun if you get close than put up a shield. she can also use the barriers long-distance, which allows for things like protecting others, but also putting up magic walls for people to crash into

Bio:
First of all: Azumi was not born an only child. She was born a twin, except for the fact that her older twin brother supposedly "died" when he was born - this is not the truth, he was, in fact, sent to the Academy to be a test subject for a Key to see how sync rates would work with bonding twins with each other and what the success rate would be. Basically, Azumi's a walking, living experiment. (Not that she knows this.)
When she was young, she was told about her brother being dead and it caused her a bit of grief to the point where she felt that something was missing in her life, and so she was given a Key as a present.
Of course, that Key was a shield - her brother. Of course, it's because her Key is a shield that she was bullied quite a bit, which caused her to pull back into her shell. But this didn't mean that she didn't keep herself energetic; in fact, she put on the mask of a rather high energy character to the point where she became pretty much a "in your face" kind of girl. The stereotypical "genki girl".
It's also because of this that she became a little more interested in researching things to the point of obsession - she'd know things about other people, but they wouldn't know much about her. Gathering information essentially became her lifeblood and she became a part of the student newspaper club because of it. (That, and because of how her ability works, really.)
Other than that, she's been living a pretty normal school life while snooping around for information about her brother - who she thinks may not actually be dead, she never saw the body, after all - and anything else she might find strange.
Key: Akio -- using the 亜希雄 (second, hope, hero) kanji to write his first name. He's a fucking shield, and he's also Azumi's twin brother, not that he knows this. Akio doesn't have much in the way of human memories but his sync rate with Azumi is horrendously high. In terms of personality, he's a little overprotective and sometimes overbearing but in battle they work together rather well.
Powers and shit: "Copy". Her ability allows her to imitate things. She can use this ability to shapeshift (for about two hours at a time) and also copy another person's powers. However, in order to copy a person's abilities, she needs to physically hit or tap the person with her Key. Also, she can only "copy" one ability at a time and her time limit is 90 minutes. In terms of these abilities, they're something that she keeps close to her chest so it's not something that she would immediately tell anybody if they asked.
